About John

A career shaped by curiosity

I’m a digital marketing professional, web developer, and practical AI practitioner based in Greater Boston.

For more than 20 years, I’ve worked where marketing, technology, and data meet. My experience spans digital strategy, search engine optimization, paid advertising, analytics, email marketing, website development, eCommerce, and emerging AI tools.

I’m interested in technology that solves real problems, improves decisions, and gives people more time for meaningful work.

From web development to applied AI

My career began in web development before expanding into eCommerce, search marketing, digital strategy, analytics, and communications.

Over the years, I’ve worked with organizations including Princess House, A.T. Cross, Ross-Simons, Cape Cod Cupola, Suncor Stainless, and Homes For Our Troops. That range of experience has taught me to look at digital work as a connected system rather than a collection of isolated channels.

More recently, I’ve focused on the practical use of artificial intelligence. I’m exploring how AI agents, custom assistants, automation, and better workflows can support marketing teams and small businesses without adding unnecessary complexity.

How I approach the work

I believe effective digital marketing should be data-driven, user-focused, and practical.

Traffic and clicks only matter when they contribute to a useful experience and a meaningful organizational goal. I enjoy moving between strategy and execution: developing a plan, interpreting performance data, investigating an SEO problem, improving a website, refining a campaign, or working directly with the technology behind the marketing.

I bring the same perspective to AI. The goal is to determine where it can improve research, analysis, communication, content development, automation, and decision-making.

Practical AI Flows

I’m building Practical AI Flows as a small-business AI consulting practice focused on useful, approachable applications of artificial intelligence.

The work includes custom AI assistants, workflow automation, research and planning systems, dashboards, and educational guides. It is an ongoing exploration of how small businesses can reduce repetitive work and introduce AI into their existing operations thoughtfully.
